You have probably heard that several internet cable companies are limiting download speeds for their customers. This has raised a number of regulatory questions in Washington DC, but so far there are not too many facts on the situation.
Few too many people know whether or not they are being ripped off, and since they don’t know, they can’t let their Congressperson know.
Fortunately our good friends at the Electronic Frontier Foundation have a great tool that can tell you whether or not you are being impacted.
If you learn that you are, write, call and email your Senator and Representative right away!
Otherwise the next time you have to download textbooks for a midnight cram session, or download a movie from Netflix, or even attempt to watch a streaming political debate, you may find that your internet connection has been wiped out.

I was reading a chat thread on Google Groups and someone asked how they could get past the censors in their country. Its a good question and in the spirit of open information, I’ve compiled several resources to help you get past censors and censorship.

- Get Paid to Help Others get around Censorship (requires an install, pays $10 once, sounds a little risky but maybe not as risky as getting maced during a protest)

- 30 day free trial for Anonymizer -Anonymous Web Surfing - costs $29.99 if you don’t get thrown into a Chinese jail before the 30 days is up.
- Understanding the MSN Spaces Censorship Process (so you can work around it)
- Handbook for Bloggers and Cyber Dissidents - Technical Ways to Get Around Censorship - from those fun loving Reporters without borders crowd ~I heard they got into a major brawl with some surly types from Doctors without borders in Katmandu (Alternate Page same thing)
- How does Google Censorship work? - Again the concept is to understand so that you can work around it. There’s also the War on CyberInsecurity perspective too as the west prepares for a showdown with China over cybersecurity while India plays the outsourced referee
