How to Open All in Tabs with Internet Explorer 7 Video Tutorial

Here is a simple tutorial that will show you how to unlock the ability to open all files in a favorites folder with Internet Explorer 7.
Earlier today I spent a great deal of time trying to find any resources or tutorials that showed how this was done and no one seems to have covered it thoroughly. Once I finally figured it out, I documented the process with this quick video tutorial.
For those of you that may be curious as to why I wanted to even contemplate something in the Internet Explorer 7 browser, the reason is due to one of my favorite software programs, MindManager Pro 7. I have a love somewhat hate the slow development relationship with Mindmanager. Today, Mindmanager has a pretty good tool for organizing internet content, but it only works with Internet Explorer and not Firefox my browser of choicer nor Opera my browser backup of choice. So I am stuck using IE7, an inferior tool, but this tutorial does help it simulate some normal functionality found in Firefox. Hopefully my small contribution to the digital signage across the internet will save you some time if you get stuck looking for the same ability to open all favorites in tabs.

Thank you for posting this tip and video. I had never thought of opening a folder of web pages! It would be good if you could paste the folder and all the links on to a map.
I just found a work around to do that.
> Drag the folder from IE to the map.
> Click the folder on the map - a file explorer window opens
> Select all the hyperlink shortcuts and drag or copy and paste on the folder topic in the map.
Perhaps it’s time I bought Camtasia!
A little tip for you and your MindManager viewers. You can move the Send to MindManager icon along the IE toolbar by
> Right clicking the toolbar
> Customise Command Bar
> Add or Remove Commands
> Move the MindManager icon up the list.
Hi Andrew,
Those are very good tips. The folder drag is an excellent tip.
It is definitely faster than my method, the standard process in MindManager. On the needs improvement, that method would bring more links in faster, but I think it still will not bring in text quotes and I’m not sure about web page title information.
I’ll probably add a video tutorial as follow up with both tips.
As to Camtasia, it is expensive and I was reluctant myself, but the time finally came around.
Thanks,
Brett
thank you for this! why do they make it so darn complicated!
I am a web designer and save hundreds of inspirational and other websites each week. Before finding this video, I had to click on each link seperately. I also found another way but obviously not as good as you have just shown us and no where near as time effective.
go to fav menu on the top toolbar
right click on folder group
choose explore
you can open your favs from here where it is somewhat more manageable
anyhow, thank-you for this tip and video - it will be a huge time saver for me and hoepfully many others
keep up the great work on your blog!
Thanks simon, there’s always something to save a few minutes and its even better when they can be refined to save even more time.
Cheers dude for the tip… It’s only a pitty that it’s so hidden. I use the links toolbar at the top and there would be a good place to have that arrow as well but…
Excellent. The fact that IE7 doesn’t even have this shows hows much MS has lost touch with reality.
Awesome. Thanks a lot. I wasted 2 hours trying to figure out how to do this… and today when I woke up i found yours. Really helpful
Hey root,
Thanks for stopping by. I wasted a similar 2 hours the first time and only wish I could have been there for you faster.
Its really annoying when you can’t figure out how to do what you know can be done in a software program.
