There are lots of ways to get attention on the internet and one way is to use a sensational headline. The truth is that people pay attention, even if only briefly to sensational headlines.
You could write a headline about costume jewelry such as
Tips for wearing Costumer Jewelry
or you could write an article like
Court Orders Intestinal Surgery on OJ Simpson Finds Nicole’s Costume Jewelry
10 out of 10 people are going to ignore the first article and quite a few people are going to check out the second.
Bloggers have a much higher hurdle to surpass in order to bring readers into their blogs and through their articles. Google search will only take bloggers so far, but a sensational article headline can definitely deliver results.
The obvious challenge is that sensational headlines can not be used on every article, and it takes a lot of creativity to come up with great headlines on a regular basis, let alone something that is sensational.
