WordPress 2.3 Beta looking for Testers
If you are feeling adventurous and would like to test the latest version of WordPress, WordPress beta 2.3 is here.
It offers:
- plugin and core update notification
- built-in tags support
- faster javascript
- SEO-friendly URL redirection
I am definitely eager to see how the plugin updates work as well as the tag support. I am also interested to learn how the SEO friendly URL redirection works. I do not know exactly what it means yet, and will probably try the beta on one of my test blogs to try it out.
I established a real estate test blog to sample some things relating to Phoenix real estate for a client a while back on an inner directory that is not indexed. I recommend this type of setup for mirroring your blog as well. You can link a blog on a different directory to the same database. This can enable you to test some but not all functionality without giving your readers a strange error or problem that you were not expecting.
It doesn’t necessarily work however, when the installation of the new items changes or ads to the database structure, but it works great for new themes.
In my case, I’m not using the database jointly. This is just a sample or throw away installation that is only important to me for testing.
