Mirror, Mirror on the Wall Is Google Fair at All?

Google is turned into a massive company.

They have placed themselves in a position where they are the conduit for finding answers on the Internet.  They’ve leveraged their position in a way that they make money every time somebody looks for an answer, they are a modern day oracle.

Just like the oracles of ancient Greece, we must attempt to understand whether or not it and all seeing and all knowing eye, that benefits from our questions is really in our best interests.  They definitely provide an information service like no other, even though there are some very unique improvements being made by Ask.com.  For many years though no one has been able not Google off the top of the search industry.

Despite having a corporate mission to do no evil, Google is routinely accused of doing great evil around the world.  They have disclosed information about their users, they even use information about their users for their own financial gain in fact that’s exactly how they make money.  They attempt to find the best answer for your questions and whenever they can substitute or include an advertisement that relates to your question as well.

We have to start asking ourselves if we’re getting a fair deal from Google.  Is the information they’re providing us good enough compared to the cost of that information.  It’s difficult to determine an easy answer for this has most of the transactions are literally nickels and dimes.  However with millions and billions of search is taking place on the Internet every day those nickels and dimes add up quickly.

If you perform a search for a Makeup Mirrors akeup mirrors, odds are you’re going to help Google earn money.  If you do a search for Barack Obama, again you’re going to earn Google money.

If you read an article on CNN without even doing a Google search, odds are you’re going to earn Google money and probably CNN too.  There’s almost nothing you can do on the web without earning Google money at some point or another.  Google doesn’t own the Internet however their mastery of where to find information on the Internet is placed in a position much like a monopoly they can charge for access to the information.  They’re so smart that they charge for it without us even knowing that were paying for it and return.
